Atmospheric Pressure Plasma

Overview

The technology can be used for activation and cleaning of a variety of surfaces, in addition to removal of several materials. The technology is currently being used in several industries including:

  •              – micro electronics,
  •              – electronics,
  •              – optics,
  •              – sensor technology,
  •              – medical and divers other industrial areas.

The system is fully developed and integrated, and ready for use in different configurations, based on application. More information can be found under Plasma Processes section of our site.

There are some competitive plasma pens out in the marketplace currently, however our plasma source has some unique capabilities that set it apart.

It is unique in that it produces a small (mm^3), high-density, high temperature (> 1000 K) plasma at atmospheric pressure. The discharge is continuous and stable and works with various process gases. This allows a continuous high-efficient activation of process gases with high process gas utilization. Therefore, efficient chemical reactions at very high energy levels can be utilized. Also, a wide gas flow range is possible (0 .. >1000 sccm), this allows control of the chemical reaction. Finally, the source is very small (30 mm diameter, 120 mm length), which makes it easy to handle and to operate in very tight spaces, etc. It saves energy, as it has a 24 V supply and no high voltage is necessary.

Advantages and Innovations

Compact and Integrated: Through a novel concept, our equipment integrates electrical supply and plasma generation, so there no need for a separate high voltage supply.

Microwave:
Plasma generation done with 2.3 GHz; the supply voltage is just 24 V DC, so our equipment can be plugged into any AC power supply.

Atmospheric:
No need for complex vacuum apparatus. So the substrate sizes and shapes that can be treated are not determined by the chamber size.

Low Temperature:
Temperatures lower than 100 °C, allow for treatment of sensitive and thin substrates, foils etc.

Flexibility:
Our equipment works with a variety of different gasses, both inert gases as well as reactive gases.

Biomedical applications: For specialized medical applications,
Nitric Oxide can be produced with high efficiency. This allows the use of our technology and equipment for wound healing, treatment of scars and skin diseases. Relevant lab tests on human skin cells have been successfully concluded recently.
